Summertime in Vermont, there is honestly nothing like it. Killer bright blue skies, warm breezes rustling the thick green leaves and sizzling Misty Knoll Chicken on the grill. That’s summer in Peru and at J.J. Hapgood. Add in the music of a steel drum band and a benefit BBQ—on Father’s Day weekend no less and you’ve got yourself a celebration.
We’re getting ready for the BBQ and Steel Drums Benefit on Saturday, June 20 to kick off the summer celebrations and give Dad a break from the grill. Enjoy a picnic style dinner with slow roasted pork, potato salad, cole slaw and baked beans. You can almost smell the pork, slathered with homemade barbecue sauce being cooked low and slow on the coals all day long, and all of the sides to accompany it too. This is promising to be a delicious event.
The sounds of authentic Caribbean steel drums played by The Blue Flames Steel Band will top off the festivities and will help raise money for The Collaborative, an organization dedicated to promoting a substance free community, particularly among the youth.
We’ve also got plenty of Dad-worthy gift boxes in store to make his Father’s Day memorable. The Joseph Jackson’s Spiced Up Kitchen Basket contains everything Dad could want for his big day–Vermont made hot sauces, Vermont Smoke and Cure sausage, maple syrup, and a trucker hat. Or choose our Cheese Lovers Box; containing creamy Vermont cheese, and all the accompanying products needed to fully appreciate some of our state’s finest cheeses.
If you cannot make the Benefit on Saturday, come back on Sunday for more BBQ and Father’s Day Celebrations with Misty Knoll Chicken on the Grill for lunch!
