If you have spent anytime in Vermont during the winter, you know that January can be a seriously cold month. However, we’ve always taken the approach that just because it’s cold, we can still enjoy the beautiful place that we have chosen to live and work in. That means we find opportunities to enjoy winter in all its various temperatures—and embrace bundling up!
Something that always helps to ease the winter chill is a little bit of comfort food. Our signature wood-fire pizzas, a delicious bowl of homemade chili or piping hot beef stew made with local beef, are just a few of our favorites that regularly make their way into our Daily Specials.
With this affection for comfort food in mind, we’ve taken a break from the special dinners that were so successful during the holidays and created new menu offerings on the After 3 Menu that are sure to make everyone feel cozy and ready to battle the frigid temps another day.
Our handmade meatballs made from local pork, lamb and beef simmer in a savory brown sauce served in a skillet after baking in the wood-fire oven. These flavorful morsels are served atop crostini that we bake in-house.
Cheeses from Spring Brook Farm and Woodcock Farm are artfully combined with Vermont Smoke and Cure’s summer sausage and pepperoni in our new Cheese & Charcuterie Board. Or dive into a bubbling, creamy Spinach and Artichoke Dip that is sure to warm you from the inside-out.
In addition to the menu changes, we’ve also enjoyed working with our regular customers as we have transitioned to table service. Offering table service has enabled us to manage the busiest times with much more ease—for both the kitchen and for customers. It’s also allowed our local shoppers to be able to make a quick stop into the store for milk or a cup of coffee, and not get caught in a long line at the register. This change is a direct result of feedback that we’ve gotten over the last year and we truly appreciate everyone’s patience and kindness as we’ve worked out the kinks. Overall, dining customers, shoppers and our staff couldn’t be more pleased with the changes.
With new menu offerings that focus on what we do best—comfort food—while also adding new services for our customers and keeping the same friendly and accessible vibe that we have built the store on, that’s what is keeping us warm this January!
